Basudha aluminium windows and doors are generally priced based on the overall project requirements rather than simply the window size. Several factors influence the final quotation.1. Window or Door Size The width and height of each opening determine the approximate quantity of aluminium profiles, glass and hardware required.2. Product/System Selected Different systems have different costs. For example, sliding, casement, lift & slide, folding, tilt & turn and louvre systems may have different profile and hardware requirements.3. Aluminium Profile The selected aluminium profile, section size, system design and required strength can affect the price.4. Glass Specification Glass is an important component of the total cost. Pricing can vary depending on whether you choose clear, toughened, laminated, double glazing/IGU, acoustic or solar-control glass and the required thickness/configuration.5. Hardware & Accessories Handles, rollers, hinges, locks, multipoint locking systems, tracks, gaskets and other accessories can influence the final price.6. Colour & Finish Standard finishes and specialised finishes may have different pricing. Options can include silver, white, grey, charcoal, black, brown, bronze and selected wood-effect or custom finishes, subject to availability.7. Quantity & Project Size A complete villa, apartment project or commercial building may have different pricing from a single-window requirement because the total quantity and fabrication requirements are different.8. Fabrication & Installation The quotation may include fabrication, transportation, installation and site-related requirements depending on the project. How do I get an exact price? For an accurate Basudha quotation, share:✓ Window/door sizes or drawings✓ Quantity✓ Product/system required✓ Glass specification✓ Colour/finish✓ Project location✓ Installation requirementOur team can then assess the requirement and provide a project-specific quotation.Basudha™ — Share Your Requirement. n India, “Domal window” is a commonly used term in the aluminium window and door industry. However, Domal and aluminium are not two different materials.Aluminium is the material, while Domal generally refers to a particular aluminium window/door system, profile design or series. The term Domal originated from the Italian aluminium building-system brand Domal, which became well known in the Indian market. Over time, the term became widely used by fabricators and customers to describe certain aluminium profile systems, especially sliding window systems. In today's Indian market, however, the word “Domal” can sometimes be used loosely for Domal-style or similar aluminium profiles. Therefore, customers should always check the actual profile specifications rather than choosing a window only because it is called “Domal.”Aluminium Window vs. Domal WindowAn aluminium window is a broad category that includes many different systems such as sliding, casement, fixed, louvre, folding, tilt & turn and lift & slide windows.A Domal window generally refers to a particular aluminium profile/system or a Domal-style profile, and in the Indian market it is commonly associated with aluminium sliding windows. The important point is that every Domal window is an aluminium window, but not every aluminium window is a Domal window. What determines the quality? The word “Domal” alone does not determine the quality of a window. The actual performance depends on:Aluminium alloy and gradeProfile dimensionsProfile wall thicknessWindow design and systemGlass specificationHardware and locking systemSurface finishFabrication qualityInstallation qualityTherefore, when purchasing aluminium windows, it is better to ask for the complete technical specification rather than simply asking whether the window is “Domal.”
Today, many customers are looking for Slim Profile Aluminium Windows and Doors. A slim profile means an aluminium system designed with narrower visible frame sections, allowing more glass and less visible aluminium in the overall opening. In simple terms, traditional aluminium windows have more visible frame, while slim-profile windows provide a larger glass area with a cleaner and more minimalist appearance. The biggest advantage of a slim profile is more glass and less frame. This can give the building a modern architectural appearance, allow more natural daylight into the room and provide a wider, less obstructed outside view.Slim aluminium systems are especially popular for luxury villas, modern apartments, hotels, offices, commercial buildings and large balcony or terrace openings. They can be used for sliding windows, sliding doors, fixed glazing, casement systems and other architectural applications, depending on the selected system.Another advantage is the premium aesthetic. The reduced visible aluminium creates clean lines and allows the glass to become the main visual element of the façade. This is why slim-profile systems are increasingly used in contemporary architecture. However, slim does not automatically mean better or stronger. The profile must be properly selected according to the opening size, glass weight, wind conditions, building height, hardware and required performance. A good slim system should achieve the desired appearance while still providing the required strength, safety, weather resistance and smooth operation. For Basudha, we can position this as:Basudha Slim Aluminium Systems™More Glass. Less Frame. More Light. Better Views.A slim profile is therefore not simply about making the aluminium thinner. It is about achieving a balanced combination of minimalist design, maximum glass area, structural performance and long-term reliability.
When choosing an aluminium profile, do not look only at the profile series or its weight. The complete window or door system is important.First, check the profile series and design to make sure it is suitable for your type of window or door. Then check the aluminium grade, profile size, wall thickness and weight per metre. These give you an idea about the strength and construction of the profile. Also consider the size of your window or door. A small window and a large sliding door will require different profile strengths. The glass weight is also important, especially for large glass panels. The frame, rollers, hinges and other hardware must be capable of handling the load. For external windows and doors, also check water resistance, air leakage, wind resistance and drainage. Finally, pay attention to the quality of fabrication, hardware, surface finish and installation. Even a good aluminium profile will not perform properly if fabrication or installation is poor.In simple words:Profile Series + Aluminium Grade + Profile Size + Wall Thickness + Weight + Glass + Hardware + Window Size + Fabrication + InstallationAt Basudha Aluminium Industries™, we believe the right profile should be selected according to the application, opening size, design and performance requirement, not simply by looking at how heavy the profile is.Basudha™ — Strong. Reliable. Built on Trust.
When you hear terms such as 27×65, 40×65, 50×100 or 45×120 aluminium profiles, these numbers generally describe the approximate overall dimensions of the profile cross-section in millimetres. For example:27×65 mm generally means the profile is approximately 27 mm × 65 mm in its cross-section.40×65 mm generally means approximately 40 mm × 65 mm.However, an important point is that these numbers are not universal “series standards.” Different aluminium manufacturers can use the same or similar dimensions for completely different profile designs. The actual drawing and system specification should always be checked. What do the two numbers represent?Think of an aluminium profile as if you are looking at it from the end:27 × 65 mm27 mm = approximately one outside dimension65 mm = approximately the other outside dimensionThe profile itself may contain hollow chambers, tracks, grooves, ribs and reinforcement sections inside. So a 27×65 profile is not simply a solid aluminium bar measuring 27×65 mm.Why are different sizes available?Different profile dimensions are designed for different applications.A smaller profile may be suitable for a small residential window, while a deeper or stronger profile may be needed for a large window, door or heavy glass panel. For example, you may see systems marketed approximately as:Profile designationTypical type of application*25–30 mm rangeSmaller/slimmer window systems27×65 mmCommon sliding-window style systems40×65 mmLarger/stronger frame or door applications40×80 mmDeeper/heavier-duty applications50×100 mmLarger architectural/door systems60×120 mm+Large-format or specialised systems*These are illustrative ranges, not universal standards. The exact application depends on the manufacturer's profile design and engineering.Does a bigger profile mean a better profile? No.This is very important.A 40×65 profile is not automatically better than a 27×65 profile. The performance depends on:Profile geometry + alloy/temper + wall thickness + weight per metre + reinforcement + glass weight + opening size + hardware + fabrication + installation. For example, a well-designed hollow 27×65 profile can be perfectly suitable for its intended application, while a poorly designed larger profile may not provide the expected performance. What is more important than the “series number”?When comparing two Basudha profiles, don't simply ask:“Is this 27×65 or 40×65?”Instead ask:1. What is the exact profile drawing?2. What is the aluminium alloy and temper?3. What is the profile weight in kg/m?4. What is the wall thickness?5. What glass thickness/weight can the system accommodate?6. What is the maximum recommended sash size?7. What rollers, hinges and locks are specified?8. What wind-load and weather-performance requirements does it meet?ExampleSuppose you have a 1000 × 1200 mm bedroom sliding window.A particular 27×65 system might be completely adequate. But if you have a 2500 × 2500 mm large sliding door with heavy double glazing, you may need a substantially different system with stronger profiles, larger rollers and appropriate structural design. So the correct approach is:Window size → Glass weight → Wind load → Profile system → Hardware → Fabrication → InstallationFor Basudha™For your Basudha Domal™ and Basudha Slim Aluminium Systems™, I recommend creating a proper series naming system rather than relying only on dimensions. For example:Basudha Domal™ D27 SeriesBasudha Domal™ D40 SeriesBasudha Slim™ S40 SeriesBasudha Slim™ S50 SeriesThen for every series, publish:Profile size | kg/m | wall thickness | glass capacity | maximum sash size | hardware | application | finishThat will make your catalogue much more professional and will help customers understand why one Basudha profile is selected over another.
Glass is an important part of your window or door. The right glass can improve safety, natural light, privacy, noise control and comfort. The best choice depends on where the window or door will be installed and what you want it to achieve.Clear Glass is the most common option. It provides good natural light and clear outside views and is suitable for many standard residential applications.Toughened Glass is stronger than ordinary glass and is a popular choice for doors, large windows and areas where safety is important. When broken, it generally breaks into small pieces rather than large sharp shards.Laminated Glass has two glass layers joined by an interlayer. If it breaks, the pieces tend to remain attached to the interlayer. It is a good option when safety, security or noise reduction is important.Frosted / Privacy Glass reduces visibility while still allowing light to enter. It is commonly used for bathrooms, toilets and other private areas.Tinted Glass can reduce glare and provide some solar control while giving the building a different appearance.Reflective Glass has a reflective surface that can help reduce glare and solar heat and can provide greater daytime privacy, depending on the application.Low-E Glass has a special coating designed to reduce heat transfer. It can be considered when improving the thermal performance of a building is important.Double Glazing / IGU uses two glass panes separated by an insulated air or gas-filled cavity. It can provide better thermal and acoustic insulation than single glazing when properly specified.Which glass should I choose? For a normal home window, clear or toughened glass can be considered depending on the location and safety requirements. For doors and large windows, toughened or laminated safety glass is generally a better choice. For hot and sunny rooms, especially areas receiving strong afternoon sunlight, consider solar-control or Low-E glazing. For a noisy location, laminated glass or a properly designed double-glazed unit can help improve acoustic comfort. For bathrooms and private spaces, frosted or privacy glass is a good option. For a premium energy-efficient home, consider a suitable double-glazed IGU with Low-E and/or solar-control glass.RememberThere is no single “best” glass for every window. The right choice depends on:Glass Type + Thickness + Window Size + Safety + Sunlight + Noise + Privacy + Thermal Requirement + Aluminium SystemAt Basudha Aluminium Industries™, we help you select the right combination of aluminium profile, glass and hardware according to your project requirements.Basudha™ — The Right Glass. The Right Aluminium. The Right Solution.
Yes. There are special types of glass designed to reduce the amount of solar heat entering a building. They are especially useful in India, where strong sunlight and high temperatures can increase indoor heat.1. Solar Control GlassSolar Control Glass is designed to reduce solar heat gain and glare while still allowing natural daylight to enter. It is a good choice for:Large windowsSouth- and west-facing windowsGlass façadesVillas and apartmentsOffices and commercial buildings2. Low-E GlassLow-E (Low Emissivity) glass has a special coating that helps reduce heat transfer through the glass. It can help improve indoor thermal comfort and reduce the cooling load of an air-conditioned space.3. Double Glazing / IGUDouble glazing uses two panes of glass separated by an insulated air or gas-filled space.A properly designed IGU can provide better thermal insulation than single glazing.4. Solar Control + Low-E + Double GlazingFor a premium residential or commercial project, a properly designed Double-Glazed IGU using suitable Solar-Control and/or Low-E glass can provide a high level of thermal performance. In simple terms:Clear Glass: More solar heat can enter ☀️Solar Control Glass: Reduces solar heat gainLow-E Glass: Reduces heat transferDouble Glazing: Adds an insulating layerSolar Control + Low-E + Double Glazing: A high-performance combination for improved indoor comfortDoes this glass actually make the room cold? No. Glass does not work like an air conditioner. Its purpose is to reduce the amount of heat entering the room, which can help the AC maintain the desired temperature more efficiently.Actual indoor temperature also depends on:Glass + Aluminium Frame + Window Size + Sun Exposure + Building Orientation + External Shading/Louvres + Wall Insulation + Air ConditioningBasudha™ RecommendationFor a hot and sunny location, Basudha can help select the appropriate glazing according to the direction of the window, size of the glass, sunlight exposure, required comfort level and budget.Basudha™ — Smart Glass. Better Comfort. Better Living.
DGU = Double Glazed Unit.It is made of two separate panes of glass with a sealed space between them. A spacer keeps the two panes apart, and the cavity is filled with dry air or, in many systems, an insulating gas such as argon. For example:6 + 12 + 6 DGUmeans:6 mm glass + 12 mm air/argon gap + 6 mm glassTotal unit thickness = 24 mm.The gap between the two panes is what provides much of the thermal insulation. What is the benefit of DGU?DGU is mainly used to improve:☀️ Heat control — reduces heat transfer through the window.❄️ Thermal comfort — helps maintain a more comfortable indoor temperature.🔇 Noise reduction — can improve acoustic performance, especially with appropriate glass combinations.💧 Condensation control — the insulated construction can reduce condensation under suitable conditions.⚡ Energy efficiency — can reduce the cooling/heating load of a building.
No. DGU is NOT automatically bulletproof. This is very important.A normal DGU such as 6+12+6 is designed primarily for thermal and acoustic insulation, not ballistic protection.Bullet-resistant glass is a specialised security glazing system made with multiple layers of glass and suitable interlayers/materials and must be tested to a specified ballistic standard. However, a DGU can be manufactured using special laminated or bullet-resistant glass as one or more of its panes. In that case, the complete glazing configuration needs to be specifically designed and tested for the required security performance.Very simple comparisonNormal Glass → Basic light and visibilityToughened Glass → Improved strength and safetyLaminated Glass → Safety, security and acoustic benefitsDGU / IGU → Mainly thermal + acoustic insulationDGU + Low-E / Solar-Control Glass → Better heat and solar controlBullet-Resistant Laminated Glass → Ballistic/security protection

Basudha™ aims to offer a strong balance between quality, performance and price. However, it would not be accurate to say that Basudha is always cheaper than every other brand because aluminium window and door prices vary significantly depending on the profile system, aluminium thickness, glass, hardware, finish, size and installation.Basudha offers different levels of aluminium solutions, including Domal, System Aluminium, slim-profile systems, façades, louvres and glazing, so the customer can choose a solution according to the project's requirements and budget. Why can Basudha offer competitive pricing?Basudha focuses on project-specific fabrication and installation, rather than forcing every customer into one expensive standard system. This allows the specification to be matched to the actual requirement. For example, a normal residential sliding window does not necessarily need the same specification as a large lift-and-slide door or a high-performance commercial façade. The price can be optimised by selecting the appropriate:Aluminium Profile + Thickness + Glass + Hardware + Finish + Size + QuantityDoes lower price mean lower quality? Not necessarily.A cheaper quotation may simply have a different specification. When comparing Basudha with another brand, customers should compare the same profile series, aluminium thickness, glass, hardware, finish and installation scope. For example:Brand A: ₹X/sq.ft. with basic profile + standard glass Brand B: ₹Y/sq.ft. with heavier profile + DGU + premium hardwareThe second quotation may be more expensive but may also provide a completely different level of performance.Basudha's approachOur objective should be:“The right product at the right price—not simply the lowest price.”
